Surrounded by Bryce Canyon, Zion and Cedar Breaks, coupled with Utah's famous powder, Brian Head Resort combines your ski and sightseeing vacation into one.
Three Snowy Adventures at Cedar Breaks
Winter is the perfect time to visit Utah’s Mighty National Parks like Bryce Canyon and Zion and right in the center of both is the little known Cedar Breaks National Monument. With spectacular colors formed by abundant mineral deposits, Cedar Breaks is breathtaking to behold. This giant amphitheater was millions of years in the making; sedimentation, uplift, and erosion have carved out a space that spans three miles and is more than 2,500 feet deep. Cedar Breaks is located a mere six miles from Brian Head Ski Resort, Utah’s southernmost and highest base elevation resort. Highlighted by the Greatest Snow on Earth™, Cedar Breaks becomes a unique wonderland of red rocks and sparkling white snow; making this gem a must-do on the winter adventure list.
Winter Recreation along Highway 148
Running through Cedar Breaks is the 10 mile Scenic Byway UT-148. With the first heavy snowfall, the road closes to become a groomed trail for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and snowmobiles. The trail system in and around the park is an easy to follow and leads to incredible views and snowmobile tours are available in Brian Head.
Explore By Moonlight
For the chance to experience Cedar Breaks National Monument in a completely new light – guided Full Moon Snowshoe Walks are happening this winter! Rangers lead the hikes, offering the chance for night adventure and to learn about our closest celestial neighbor. The guided walks are free, but registration at www.nps.gov/cebr is required. The park provides both snowshoes and poles, but be prepared to wear snow boots and dress warmly.
Celebrate the Night Skies
To celebrate and share the beauty of our dark night skies, Cedar Breaks and Brian Head Ski Resort have teamed up to host Winter Star Parties at the Navajo Base Lodge. The party kicks off with a laser light constellation tour and star viewing through telescopes. Learn about constellation mythology to the structure of the universe! Telescopes are provided or bring your own.
